DRIVING
DIRECTIONS FROM MILAN, BOLOGNA, FORLI AIRPORT, FLORENCE, ROME AND
AREZZO (All distance and times are approximate)
From
Milan
( 5 hrs)
Take Autostrada A1 direction Bologna-Firenze
Just before getting to Bologna (190 kilometres from Milan), look
for Autostrada A14 direction ANCONA
Now continue with the instructions below from Bologna
From
Forli airport ( 1 hr 30 mins)
As
you exit the airport turn right, continue on this road to the T
junction. Turn right and continue to the first main junction with
traffic lights. Turn left, signposted to Autostrada. Continue to
follow green Autostrada signs (these can be a little difficult to
spot) at subsequent junctions. After about 10 minutes you will reach
the toll booth for the Autostrada A14.
After
the toll booth head towards Ancona on the A14.
On the
A14 take the first exit, signposted to CESENA NORD, ROMA / E45
Stay on the E45 for 80 kilometres until exit PIEVE S. STEFANO NORD
Take the exit PIEVE S.STEFANO NORD
After you are off the exit ramp turn left, direction PIEVE S. STEFANO
/ LA VERNA.
After 1.5 kilometers you will see a petrol station on the left handside
of the road and a few hundred meters after this, turn right following
the sign to CAPRESE MICHELANGELO.
After 3 kilometers turn left, always following the signs CAPRESE
MICHELANGELO.
Keep going for another 5 kilometres and at this point you will cross
a small stone bridge, after which you have to turn left, following
the sign to ANGHIARI. (Not Caprese Michelangelo).
After 3 kilometres you will see a big white sign saying CARONI S.CRISTOFORO.
Just before the API petrol station, take the sharp righthand turn,
signposted to CAPRESE MICHELANGELO. After a few hundred metres you
will see a three story white building on your left. Directly after
this building there is a small road to the left (which looks like
a driveway) with blue signs with white type that say "Gorfi,
Radicata, Priello". Take this road which passes behind this
building. Continue on this road as it bends to the right and you
pass through a small group of houses (please drive slowly).
Immediately after, the road becomes a country road without tarmac
for the first section. After this the road is cemented but sometimes
curvy and steep. After about 1.5 kilometres you will see "Radicata"
and "Priello" signposts. At this point there is a sharp
lefthand turn which takes you about 50 metres down the hill to "Casa
Capriolo".

Bologna
Follow
the signs to the Autostrada A14.
After the toll booth head towards Ancona on the A14.

From Rome
Take Autostrada A1 direction Firenze
Take exit ORTE, on the right.
After you pay the toll and you are off the exit ramp, stay to the
right and follow the signs for highway E45, direction PERUGIA
After 21 kilometres exit on the right, always following the sign
PERUGIA - CESENA (now you are on the E45 highway)
Keep following Perugia-Cesena signs
Exactly 70 kilometres from Orte, the road forks. Take the left fork,
direction CESENA. Do not take the exit Perugia, which is on the
right.
After about 70 kilometres, take the exit to SANSEPOLCRO. At the
roundabout immediately after the exit ramp, take the third exit,i.e.
turn left, in the direction of AREZZO. After 1 kilometre and just
after the AGIP petrol station, turn right, following the sign to
ANGHIARI. After about 5 kilometres (continuing straight over one
roundabout), you will see Anghiari, directly ahead of you on the
hill. As you get close to the town, you continue straight over one
set of traffic lights and follow the road as it bends to the right
and up hill. Shortly after, and just as the road bends sharply to
the left, you will see a sign directing you to the right toward
CAPRESE MICHELANGELO. Take this road. 11 kilometres from Anghiari
you will see a big white sign saying CARONI S.CRISTOFORO. On the
left there will be a petrol station with a yellow and green API
sign. At that point the road forks.
Just after the API petrol station, take the lefthand turn, signposted
to CAPRESE MICHELANGELO. After a few hundred metres you will see
a three story white building on your left. Directly after this building
there is a small road to the left (which looks like a driveway)
with blue signs with white type that say "Gorfi, Radicata,
Priello". Take this road which passes behind this building.

From Florence or Arezzo
Take Autostrada A1 direction ROME (within the city you will see
green signs pointing you to AUTOSTRADE)
After 60 kilometres, take exit AREZZO.
After you pay the toll turn left, following the sign AREZZO.
After 10 kilometres you will get to a big traffic light intersection:
follow the sign SANSEPOLCRO - ANGHIARI on the left.
You will circle the southern part of the city of Arezzo. Due to
new traffic patterns and some construction always follow the signs
for SANSEPOLCRO.
After Arezzo, stay on this road to Sansepolcro for about 25 kilometres.
Passing several small villages, including LE VILLE.
A few kilometres after Le Ville you will see a small blue sign "ANGHIARI
- CAPRESE MICHELANGELO" pointing you to the left.
Follow this all the way into Anghiari where you turn right at the
stop sign. There is a tiny fountain on your left.
You will see the castle of Anghiari to the right. After 4 big horse
shoe turns there will be a road that goes into the country on your
left with a sign CAPRESE MICHELANGELO
Take this road, 11 kilometres from Anghiari you will see a big white
sign saying CARONI S.CRISTOFORO. On the left there will be a petrol
station with a yellow and green API sign. At that point the road
forks.
